Young Documentary Maker Required
This summer somewhereto_, a national service finding spaces and opportunities for young people aged 16 – 25, will be embarking on a nationwide mission to bring empty and unused high street shops to life.
re:store is a 6 week programme of creative activities, workshops and performances commencing from the 25th July 2013. The project will work with young creative entrepreneurs to address the problem of the dying high street, surrounding communities and issues.
We want to make a record of this project so we can tell the re:store story once summer’s over – and this is where you come in.
We’re looking for someone aged 16-25 to coordinate a team of volunteers in photographing, filming and blogging about the goings-on in and around the shops we’ve commandeered across Yorkshire and the North West. Filming and editing skills are a plus so you can oversee the process once all the footage is in!
You’ll be based in central Manchester for 17½ hours a week for 7 weeks, starting in mid-July (week beginning 22nd July). The pay rate will be £6.31 per hour. There is some allowance for travel to and from Manchester (efficiently via train / car) but this would be discussed following application. You’ll be employed by Culturapedia who manage somewhereto_NW and will be managed by re:store project manager, Laura Haddick.
If you’d like to apply, simply drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org explaining how you would approach the task in hand (no more than 2 sides of A4) along with a copy of your CV. The deadline for application is 5pm, Friday 12th July.
For a chat about the application, feel free to visit www.somewhereto.com or call us on 01254 674777
