We are experienced publishers. We edited and published mailout, the national magazine for participatory arts, from 2004 to 2014. We also print and distribute a season brochure of Spot On Lancashire events twice a year.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, people could not attend our regular programme of live events across Lancashire. Many people across the county, especially in rural areas, struggled to access alternative cultural activity online due to poor access to broadband or because digital content is not for them.
In partnership with Lancashire County Council and Hopeful and Glorious, we produced two Spot On At Home editions to reach these people. A tabloid magazine with articles about culture in Lancashire and a series of commissioned ‘how to create at home’ articles from professional makers. These went down a storm. The first edition was named one of the top ten newspapers of the year by Newspaper Club and highlighted as an example of best practice by the Audience Agency. Colleagues in Cheshire commissioned us to coordinate a sister version for them.
As a result, our twice-yearly Spot On season brochure is now a hybrid with both listings, articles and makes, in a high quality half tabloid format.
Our close working partnership with Source Creative make what we write look amazing.
